Labor Law Center
The Labor Law Center project is a long term engagement with a business that provides compliance posters to businesses using a unique subscription model. As Tech lead I have been responsible for enhancing the application to support new features and to improve the overall quality of the code base. I am also fully responsible for release deployments and leading the development team.
While working on this project we have:
Upgraded Magento to the latest version
Keeping Magento upto date is part of healthy patch strategy that was adopted by the client with our help. Staying on the latest versions help to ensuring the optimal performance, security, and functionality of the e-commerce website.
Performed a major version upgrade of PHP
Performing a major version upgrade of PHP represents a significant milestone in the optimization and security of the website's underlying infrastructure. a major PHP upgrade often results in notable performance enhancements, with the potential for faster page loading times and smoother user interactions. Crucially, it addresses security concerns by implementing the latest security protocols and protections, thus fortifying the website against potential vulnerabilities and cyber threats.
Migrated the application to a new hosting provider
Migrating laborlawcenter.com to a new hosting provider was a challenging task. The migration included a Major version upgrade of Magento, PHP, and all of the modules. The migration needed to be coordinated with the business to ensure that the site was not down for an extended period of time. The migration was completed successfully and there were no post-deployment issues.
Steadily improved the quality of the code base
Over multiple releases our team as steadily improved the quality of the code base. We have been able to reduce technical debt and implement new features while maintaining a high level of code quality.
